To the person who recommended this book: why?

Yes, the book has that “small town girl leaves to New York to find herself” vibe (cause literally it’s that). But what else is there? Poppy has no spark, no personality, nothing I can say “that’s her”. We’re introduced to her as this outgoing, energetic and so all kind of girl but I never actually saw it. Alex is an introvert, quiet and a family guy… that’s about it. The characters had the potential to be great and they just fall so flat to me. Nothing really spoke to me or had me interested in finishing the book. There were some parts where I was smiling or laughing but it’s not enough. It’s a friends to lovers trope… again, with all the potential to be great but isn’t.
