The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need by Joanna Martine Woolfolk

2.0

There are a lot of fascinating aspects to astrology and understanding one’s birth chart. The book started off well, and I liked the original message the author wrote in the introduction about how astrology and birth charts are complex, and one has to take in the whole in order to get a clearer understanding. I also liked the message that astrology is not meant to predict the future nor the fate of a person. Much like tarot, astrology and understanding birth charts is meant to provide insight or useful nuggets to help guide people along their path.

But then getting into the book, I found there to be a lot of contradictions to the authors previous statement in the introduction. Rather than gentle insights, the book seemed more rigid with very specific details that seemed both fixed and defining. What started off as interesting quickly grew tiresome and I got the sense that there were also some heavy biases towards certain astrological signs.

I learnt a few interesting things along the way, the broader concepts fascinating to consider and understand. The more detailed aspects however, is where the author seemed to lose their way, becoming way too specific in how a person is defined as per their birth chart, rather than to offer pause, understanding and reflection.

It simply was not for me.
