The Unquiet Bones by Loreth Anne White
4.0
emotional mysterious sad medium-paced
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

I really enjoyed this book! Jane’s character completely stole my heart—pregnant and dealing with her fiancé’s disappearance AND a homicide investigation, wow. I just wish there had been more focus on her journey.

The biggest downside for me was the number of characters. Keeping track of who was who felt like a puzzle, especially since the author kept switching between first names, last names, and aliases. At times, I felt like I needed to write them down to keep it all straight. But the ending more than made up for it. There were SO MANY TWISTS!

What really stood out, though, was the research. The details about the study of bones was incredible. Dr. Ella Quinn, the forensic anthropologist, was so well-written.

If you love mysteries with rich detail and strong female leads, this one’s definitely worth a read—just be ready to pay close attention.
