This was just my thing; a historical fantasy romance with LGBTQIA+ themes. The first 2-3 chapters were a new version of the events in the prequel short story, The Gate. After that, I loved reading more about Matty and Rob and the mystery they had stumbled into.  Their love story was slow-paced, and the magical mystery was intriguing. I loved that I had no idea what would happen next. The historical setting of England in the 1920s felt real and well-written. I was delighted by everything having the vibe of a paranormal detective story. The audiobook narration was great.
