How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing by KC Davis

hopeful informative relaxing

2.5

This is for the debilitated and the frozen when it comes to cleaning/productivity. It's not for people who have clutter or need some tips on adulting. It's for people at rock bottom. If you haven't done a lot of therapy, I imagine it could be pretty cathartic to experience the level of compassion the author uses and recommends using.

The author makes a big deal about making this book inclusive to the neurodivergent community, but the sentence variety and tone end up being different enough that it may be off-putting if you're used to reading a variety of books. There's even an abridged version of this book. I almost wish there was a third option that read a little more cohesively because this one is as close to you can get to a bullet pointed abridged version without actually being one.

It's got some good points in here, however. It's honestly some good 'ole therapy in the self compassion sense, but it's more direct and pointed rather than self-directed for obvious reasons.
