The Burning by Laura Bates
4.0

This made me feel so uncomfortable and sad. It reminded so much of being a teenager.

Anna Clark has completely uprooted her life, moving to Scotland, changing schools, deleting all her online profiles. And still it isn’t enough. Her past follows were like a malevolent spirit.

But when she finds a strange pendant in the attic she is transported back in time to when women were really burned alive for their ‘sinners’. Suddenly misogyny takes on a whole knew level of meaning in this insightful and thought provoking novel. Exactly what you would expect from feminist and activist Laura Bates.

‘We are the granddaughters of the witches you could not burn.’
