One thing I'm most glad about with this book is that it didn't shy away from the darker things with Queen Mary. Such as, her poor parenting and coldness towards all her children. I knew that she was cold, but I just didn't grasp how much she was. It's sad considering the different lives that her kids could have had if they had been supported and loved. However, Queen Mary was also an extraordinary woman who lived through such a rapidly changing time. Six different reigns, two world wars, revolutions worldwide. It's so interesting to consider what she lived through, although no one can deny that she was a flawed woman.
