OHHHH I LOVEDDDDDD THIS SERIES. Honestly, probably one of my new favourite series. Even though this is YA and I don't typically read that genre I fell in love with these books. These books all gave me such nostalgic vibes for some reason. Like kinda early 2000's high school vibes, which I guess makes sense since this was made in 2012-2015 I believe and it is set in high school...
But ughhhh I just loved all the characters and DAEMON! OHHHHH BOY. One of my new favourite book boyfriends hands down. EXCEPT.... the nickname that he calls Katy lowkey makes me want to gauge out my eyes sometimes, but I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt because these were made years ago.
Going back to the YA thing... like I said I rarely read YA books, but this series was everything. Every single kiss that Daemon and Katy shared gave me SOOO many butterflies and made me so giddy and happy. Which is so much more emotion to what usually happens when I read smut scenes because I think I'm just so desensitized to it by now. Reading this YA series was just such a breath of fresh air for me.
The plot was also so amazing. It was so entertaining and addictive, I could not put these books down. I binged all 5 books (including the novella) in 3 days.
If you look at my ratings for each book (at the end of this review) you'll see that I rated the last book 4 stars. The reason behind this is because, don't get me wrong, I still really liked it, it's just that compared to the other ones it wasn't as good in my opinion. BUT I ADOREEEE the epilogue at the end, it was so sweet to see everyone together.
Overall, as you can tell, I love this series so much and definitely recommend. Even if you don't typically read YA i'd say just try it out, because obviously there are no smut scenes, but you will definitely know when they are doing IT. But for me honestly anytime they kiss it brings out so many happy feelings and emotions for me, or even if they just cuddle. It's the small things y'all:)
Ratings for each book:
Shadows (novella): 4.5/5 ⭐️
Obsidian: 5/5 ⭐️
Onyx: 5/5 ⭐️
Opal: 5/5 ⭐️
Origin: 4.5/5 ⭐️
Opposition: 4/5⭐️
(Haven't read Oblivion, which is just the first three books, but in Daemon's POV)
(Last two are duel POV)
