Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

3.0

3.5 // This book had many important themes intertwined within the major plot which I found to be brilliant in its delivery of each message. My one issue with this book however, is that at times it felt a bit too mundane. I would find the pacing at times to slow down at points that did not need to be drawn out. Also, I am not sure if this was on purpose, but Queenie's character could get a bit bothersome at times. I have a feeling this was intentional to show her progress as a character, but I feel like the execution of this was not what I would have wanted for such development.

Overall, the story was fairly good, and it mentioned important themes such as BLM throughout it which is incredibly necessary to be touched on. Don't go into the book thinking that is the only thing it will be about, go into it more so with the expectations of seeing a character's progression.
