I usually love a multigenerational story, but in this one I really dislikes the huge jumps in time, which made me feel like we did not get enough time to see how the characters process certain events and deaths. This, to me, made it feel like just a list of bad things that could happen in life. I was, however, really interested to learn more about the life of Korean people in Japan and the hardships and bigotry that they have to endure.
