Wow.
Every woman should read this book. It was such a cathartic experience. It builds slowly, highlighting the inequalities of a highly religious village and its treatment of women and their cycles. While the author writes that what she hopes we get from reading this book is to trust your gut when it comes to your health, I think she goes far beyond that.
It weaves in magic and love and anger and revenge. It's eerily parallel to many struggles we're facing today in terms of bigotry, racism, queerphobia and fascism.
It continues to build and then rips apart the fabric, creating space or something new and something better.
I will literally read every book this author writes. They all illicit emotion. This book brought out my inner rage and justice, and tamped it all down with some hope.
