World War 2 fiction is my favorite sub genre of historical fiction and I’ve read my fair share of WW2 books, and so it is very rare to find a book that tackles a moment in WW2 history I haven’t heard of. This Rebel Heart did just that.
This follows a group of characters living in Hungary during post WW2 forming an uprising against the Soviet government ruling at the time.
I loved every moment of this book. The writing is beautiful, the characters felt real and the story is utterly moving and inspiring. I loved being on this journey with them.
I also felt the magical realism twist was well written. It was woven seamlessly into the story.
Overall, this is a new favorite when it comes to WW2 fiction and I highly recommend it.
