I am shocked to find myself here giving a 4 star review to a TG book. I loved the Sword of Truth series when I was younger (aka before I read much better fantasy and infinitely better writing). Then came the books after Confessor... Law of Nines was fine, The First Confessor was meandering but okay, but the Omen Machine series and the Nicci Chronicles were horrendous.

When I heard this was coming out I decided to go back and reread the original series, then synopses of the two bad series to remember everything and then give this a try... because for some reason I keep giving this author chances to torture me.

Through my reread I had to skim tons of it that was just SO BAD. But I finished it today. So I sat down to read The Scribbly Man. And I found myself so into it! It was well written (for TG) and had a very intriguing and creepy plot.

I found myself with a couple of complaints (Shale's bizarre entrance, another "oh look Kahlan's greviously injured" plotline) but for the most part I really enjoyed this novella.

So thanks Terry, for not disappointing your fanbase horribly again. And for hiring yourself a good editor again.
