Rebel Rose

"I recommend walking this earth burdened by the notion that most anyone can surprise you."
This book was stunning and everything i could have wanted in a continuation of Beauty & the beast!
I adore Belle so much and loved seeing her growth in this story, theres a lot of intrigue and politics throughout. The setting and focus upon the revolution in france, the impact upon the people and the gritty moments.
For a disney read it didn't shy away from the darker sides of the tale, Belle and Lio's past with the curse leading into their love story. Lio's nightmares and fears, all the characters carry trauma from those times and was good to see discussed.
Although the focus is mainly upon Belle and her growing into the role of the Queen, she is very conflicted within herself at the start. She feels caught between her new life as noble an past as peasant, she isn't ready to step into the role and doesn't feel worthy of it.
Throughout the story get to see her become stronger as she stands up for her beliefs and especially against the men, as many look down upon her status and dismiss her ideas. She starts working on her own projects to support the kingdom.
Plenty of mystery elements in this read too, which is not something i enjoy ussually and yet i loved it here.
Oh and the side cast here is incredible! I adored Mrs Potts giving the best advice and Chip being adorable. Cogsworth and Lumiere are entertaining as expected.
Introduction of new cast were stunning too, i fell in love with Marguerite and Bastien is a fascinating character. Also really enjoyed seeing Lefou and learning more about him, he stole the show for me in his short scenes and loved seeing him play a role here.
Overall this book just swept me away on a wonderful adventure with Belle that i had so much fun reading every moment. Can't wait to read more in the series of the other disney princess's and their journey's.
And they live Happily Ever After
