The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
5.0

So glad I finally got to read it, appeared to have earned all the praise I'd heard. Footnotes in this edition were very helpful. I think a lot of the Pontius Pilate stuff went over my head, even with research, but the Moscow story more than made up for it. A lot of food for thought, but overall a great read in a way that many "classics" aren't, darkly humorous, tightly woven, and beautifully written. I look forward to re-reading.
