I, Enoch: The Deep Earth Chronicles by Steve Stine
5.0
Despite being a pagan the stories and mythologies in the Bible interest me as much as those in other ancient civilizations however I am a little less well versed in those tales. That said, I adored this book and how Stine combines figures and divine beings to create an enthralling adventure.
I could hardly put this one down when I started. Stine expertly weaves an intriguing timeline with believable characters and beings that keep you hooked from the start. The things that really stuck out to me were the attention to detail. I don’t just mean description but I mean explaining how things work, detailing actual locations, and of course the locations Stine creates. It blends science, myths and legends and speculative science theories to create a gripping adventure. The final thing I loved was the mix of characters and how well they are crafted. While I might not have liked each one I still loved them for how well they were created and how realistic they all were.
Now I don’t like spoilers but I will say this very much gave Journey To The Centre of the Earth vibes but at the same time made this a completely original idea. Stine manages to combine several genres and each one, under his craft, interlocks perfectly with each other. We have drama, action and adventure, a little bit of epic, a little bit of Biblical touch, science fiction and of course speculative. If you love any of these you will love this. Even if you don’t you should still give this a go!
Thank you so much to literally PR and Steve Stine for my copy. My review is left voluntarily and is honest.
