The Girls by Emma Cline

4.0

This book was a very well-written, fictional account of a young girl in the 1960s who gets caught up in a cult. I typically don't read a lot of fiction, but this book was so engaging, that I had a difficult time putting it down... I did skim over the more gory parts (blood, guts, etc. - not my cup of tea), and not a big fan of some of the situations the girl found herself in; however, the author's voice came through magnificently, and it really felt like I was watching a movie of this story as I read. Her ability to describe every detail made for a very realistic story. I definitely recommend for those of you who aren't too squeamish about difficult topics... Looking forward to seeing what this author publishes next!
