You Should Have Left by Daniel Kehlmann

4.0

A short yet creepy novella detailing a screenwriters gradual fall into madness as he and his family take a vacation in the middle of nowhere

Not necessarily the scariest book, but it has some unsettling parts. Not being able to trust his own mind was probably the most dripping part for me, or anything to do with the baby monitor.

This book is written like a stream of consciousness in the main characters diary so you really get a sense of what's going on in his head. Does that make any of it easier to understand ? Absolutely not, but it made it more interesting to read

If you like spooky stuff give this book a try, it's short and uncomfy and I enjoyed my time with it
