I flew through this in a few hours. Otero’s style is amazing. It has a Latin feel to it. Her word balloons connect like an umbilical cord to the mouth of the speaker. The story feels intensely personal, and more like a memoir than fiction. The only thing that grounds it in fiction is the supernatural elements, which border more on magical realism. I loved this. An amazing find at my local library.
