A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross
4.5
slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: N/A
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

A slow but beautifully written story that feels like being wrapped in a warm blanket. There is a mysterious, magical island divided by a clan line and two rival clans that have been enemies for centuries. The spirits add a unique fantasy aspect and are integral to the island and people. I loved having multiple character POVs, all with differing complex story lines that intertwined perfectly and very relatable. This book has a lot of YA feel even though the characters are older. The plot line with the missing girls, the notion of peace between the clans, and the involvement of the spirits is fleshed out in a slower pace that allows for excellent world building. The writing is engaging and descriptive but a large chunk is predictable with all of the foreshadowing. Overall, I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend.
