The Prayer of Protection: Living Fearlessly in Dangerous Times by Joseph Prince
2.0
Initial thoughts: Recently had a conversation about prayer and angels, so picking up The Prayer of Protection was pretty timely. Gave me quite a good starting point on Bible passages to look up such as Psalm 91 and 103, as well as the stories of Caleb, Job and Daniel. The book addressed some of my ambivalence about angels and their place in the Christian faith. I’ve always believed in their existence and their protection in the name of God but I’m not been sure what to believe beyond that.
For me, this book did give give more insight and concepts to explore but I am wary of taking answers from it at face value. For one, the author constantly brings up testimonials about the power of his preaching specifically. And while the Bible can be up to individual interpretation, there are core truths that aren’t up for debate. Since quite a few of his opinions (several of which he doesn’t identify as such) are enmeshed with what he claims to be teachings from the Bible I can’t say I was wholly assured of the biblical soundness of this book.
