Classical Philosophy
by Peter Adamson
Probably the most accessible book on ancient philosophy I've come across so far. It is lively and engaging, makes complex concepts easy to understand without necessarily dumbing things down. It also reflects on things from a modern perspective at appropriate times, which helps to further enlighten the ideas by contrasting them with others that are more familiar to us. It's a little hokey-jokey, but usually in ways that are relevant, and not too distracting. The discussions of Aristotle are particularly helpful.
