Winter by Marissa Meyer

4.0

I feel like the series stuck the landing and definitely wasn't afraid to stab/shoot/incapacitate main characters for stretches of time, and was a smooth read for 800+ pages (sure, the text is less dense than a mass-market paperback but that's still a bunch of words).

I think it can be tricky to have a character that doesn't have a total grasp on reality, and it was really interesting to see Winter's perspective, as a Lunar who doesn't use bioelectric manipulation and thus taken a toll on her mental health. And of course, from her perspective we have a bit more of the direct fairy tale allusions as she is Snow White with the evil stepmother.

Anyway, time to finish up the short stories and then I can return that to the library too!
