Secondborn is the type of book that needs to read intently and I love that. There's lots of little details that need to be remembered. The world building is great, giving enough detail for everyone to understand, while leaving a bit of mystery for future books.
However, this book is basically Hunger Games vs Divergent mixed together with a different caste system.
A strong female heroine who's a bit of an outcast: check
An Unequal society divided into districts: check
One District/ Fate that rules over all the overs: check
Other districts rebelling: check
Family Issues: check
A male character who makes them feel whole but then seems to be evil later on: CRINGE check
I could go on with all the similarities.
It's a decent book and I personally believe this is a slightly better version than any other book in this YA female sci fi genre. But this has all been done before so The shock value is lessened
But if you loved and you're missing Hunger Games, this is the book for you
