Home Is Not a Country by Safia Elhillo

Nima doesn't feel like she fits in anywhere. It's that line that many tread--not 100% fitting in their family's home culture, but not fitting in their adopted culture entirely either. Nima spends her time thinking about Yasmeen, a perfect girl she might have been. Then, the magic happens.

I don't want to say more for spoilers, but it's a magical realism book which is always tricky to categorize. I enjoyed reading Nima finding out more about herself and her family. I think the poetic form makes it more accessible.
