Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author.

I was looking forward to this after reading so many great reviews. It starts off with a great backstory, the present revealing a comatose woman wondering what happened to the missing girl, while the past shows a single, grieving mother attempting to cope after losing her husband in Afghanistan. And things seem to go from bad to worse, as those surrounding her are hellbent on making her life as difficult as possible. This is where the red herrings were too obviously thrown all over the place.

And yes I did guess who was behind the abduction halfway through the book, which is the biggest problem when you try too hard to stop the big reveal and the pitfalls of following the standard thriller formula.

If you're an avid thriller reader - this will be another run of the mill novel with a less than spectacular showdown.

If not, it will be an enjoyable read.
