Going in I didn’t know much about David Spade; I regularly rewatch both Grown ups movies and have seen some of his stand up comedy, but this was quite interesting and funny. I enjoyed following his journey of becoming a comedian, all the interesting people he met and the highs and lows of his early career. I ended up watching a few of the snl skits he mentioned, and though the comedy of that time wasn’t for me, I understand why ppl enjoyed them and why they were defining moments in his career. It was written in a very comedic way, mostly light hearted with some somber moments, that came across in the writing even with the undertones of humour.
My biggest issue was the ending; it was very abrupt, ending on his drug use. It was a weird place to end it. It just felt a lil incomplete, which is okay because thats the nature of life.
There were also some comments and actions, specifically regarding women, that I thought were rude and problematic.
