Blood and Water by Briana Morgan

4.0

I'm very squeamish. I don't even like reading about blood, and despite that, I really enjoyed this book. The characters and relationships were complex, flawed, and human. The worldbuilding was interesting and sense of place was strong. I wish it had been a little longer to flesh out some of the characters and storylines that much more. The character of Dr. Devereaux and her relationship with Jay seemed oddly paced and a bit contrived, and the end felt a little harried. The last line felt kind of overly simplistic but that's common. Overall, though, a good read and solid debut.
