Queen of Thieves by Beezy Marsh
3.0
If history classes taught us about movements like The Forty Thieves, I think we all would have paid a bit more attention. Beezy Marsh gives readers a chance to explore the seedier side of post-World War II London. The theme of the book could easily be summed up as revenge. Alice's revenge arc was believable, compelling even. I believed that her brother's betrayal and the loss of the only innocence she had left could lead her to take justice into her own hands and start her own gang. But, Nell's transformation was a bit less convincing. I found it difficult to believe that a young factory worker disowned by her parents for getting pregnant outside of marriage could survive, thrive, even, in prison and morph into a double agent of destruction. She needed more development.
