TW: rape
Really wanted to love this book, especially with the blatant metaphors to the dairy and meat industry. As someone who is already vegan for the animals/environment, I wonder if this book would've been more compelling had I not already spent a large amount of time in my life learning the horrors of how humans treat animals. The story itself wasn't super compelling to me after about the midway pointwhen he rapes her and she becomes pregnant. At that point he was irredeemable to me and I just wanted her to kill him
The overarching themes of humans being exploitative, selfish and myopic did not shock me or cause me to reflect, as I've already done that, but I hope it causes others to. I think the idea was original.
