It Waits in the Woods by Josh Malerman
3.75

I really enjoyed this one! I just wish it had been a full-length novel instead of a short story—there was so much more that could have been explored. That said, Malerman did a great job making it work within the short format.

The audiobook was solid for the most part, but there was one part that threw me off—
the narrator starts making these weird noises for the monster parts, and instead of being scared, I found myself laughing. It totally took me out of the story at times, lol.
So, I’m not sure if I’d fully recommend the audio version, but the story itself was a good, eerie read. It follows a girl whose sister goes missing, and they suspect something in the woods might be responsible.
