The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu

4.0

At the Red Coast facility, signals are being sent in to space in an attempt to contact alien life.
Several decades later, a nanotech e gineer is asked to infiltrate a secretive group of scientists following a spare of suicides. This leads the engineer to The Three-Body Problem: an online game where the world is governed by the interaction of it's three suns, and players must solve the mystery of the world.
The Three-Body Problem is more than a game; it is a conspiracy spanning light years.

I found this very physics heavy. It was enjoyable and for the most part concepts were well explained. There were a couple of points where it lost me though. The version I had of the book had a few footnotes from the translator explaining some of the terms as well which helped with both the science and the cultural aspects.
The mystery of what the base was doing, how that linked to the present events and the significance of The Three-Body Problem was good, with intrigue maintained throughout the narrative.
The book ends in a very interesting place. I'm definitely looking forward to where the second one goes.
