Trigger warnings: lying, abandonment, ableism, therapy

This one was super cute. I sometimes have a hard time with marriage of convenience within a more contemporary setting; I feel like there usually could be a different solutions but the characters just refuse to see it. This book almost convinced me that it could work. Part of the conflict and need for a marriage had to do with a main character's creative block, which is understandable, but not unsolvable. However, I couldn't help but swoon over Rooney and Axel. The former was introduced in the first book and I was obsessed with her. She has such a bright, enigmatic personality. Her friendship with Willa was one of my favorite things about the first book and I was so happy to see them back together on the page. I wish there wasn't so much lying, it really bothers me in life and in books, but I sort of understood. Axel in the other books is completely unreadable, so it was really nice to be able to peek inside his head and get to know him. I really liked how their relationship developed and how much they respected each other from the get go. I wish the resolution would've been a bit different; I think readers should've been a part of the aftermath of the family learning about all their lying, but I understand why maybe it would've dampened the HEA. Cannot believe I'm almost caught up with this series haha.
