The Rising by Kelley Armstrong
4.0
While this probably isn't a series I'll re-read, I did enjoy it. Its meaty enough to be interesting but simple enough to follow and keep up with all the different characters and plot points and makes for a really quick read. I enjoyed the characters(whether I liked them or not) and I enjoyed the good bits of action. I don't think its realistic that these kids get captured and escape as much as they do and these high powered individuals can't come up with a better way to keep them in captivity but I understand this(the escapes) helps move the story along.
I'm really glad Kelley Armstrong incorporated characters from her Darkest Power series into this book. That was a fun little feature to have at the end of the book. I kind of wish they had been introduced a little sooner but I understand this probably would have just made the story drag on. I'm glad that the teenagers weren't total brats/jerks (especially the guys-loved how they were all respectful and protective). Overall it was a decent series and a good book. If you enjoyed her Darkest Power series, you'll enjoy the Darkness Rising Series.
