I took way too long to finish this and I don’t know if it’s my fault or the book’s fault. Surely a bit of both.

I love the setting and the plot of this book, romance, bakery and opposites attract ? Sign me up!!

I loved Jada, she was relatable in her search of herself, her doubts and anxiety towards her future and her desire to find her place in the world resonated with me as I know it would with most of us entering adulthood.

Unfortunately, although this book had all the ingredients to make an addictive cocktail mix, the writing didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t bad by all means, it also wasn’t brilliant.

The pace was off, incredibly slow even after they got together. The third act break up was forced, it just made little sense to after all they’ve faced together. Also the dialogues and internal monologues needed more work, it just wasn’t realistic to me, even the love declaration was a bit meh

So yea pretty average read, « you were good, I was waiting for you to be great » 😅
