Incredible storytelling! Small complaint that throughout the book he’s denying his sexuality until his parents TELL him he’s in love with his best friend. Then he immediately gets the guy. I didn’t feel a character change from Ari with regards to his sexuality it was more of a decision that he immediately came to terms with. I don’t know if this is an accurate portrayal of the queer experience for some folks but it felt a little off. Also I feel like a bitch for saying this but they really felt like best friends, maybe just because they were kids when the book started. Those are my only complaints, it was a completely unique voice and a beautiful tale about a coming-of-age Mexican-american experience. I wasn’t a huge fan of Lin manuel narrating he was too distracting and also all of his voices sound the same lol.
