Another one of those "series I first knew because of anime but didn't have the time to watch it so I'm reading it instead" manga. Serviceable start to the series, although I could've lived without the het romance bit from the flashback.

Special shoutout to whoever typeset this though, they should be jailed. Who thought typesetting the family crest on the back of the main characters' jackets to KUMO in fucking Eurostile, one of the most stereotypically scifi sans serif fonts out there, for a series that was set in Meiji era Japan was a good idea? Same with the GOKUMONJO on the prison entrance. At the very least pick a serif font for fuck's sake. Or better yet, should've just footnoted that shit instead.

Anyway, I was almost tempted to dock a whole star because of this, but on second thought that would be kind of unfair to the original manga.
