The Search by Nora Roberts

4.0

For my first Nora Roberts book, I enjoyed this. The romance was okay, I kept getting thrown off by his aggression. Like he told her multiple times to “shut up” (context is helpful in this scenario, it wasn’t as malicious as it seemed) and he kept saying “she’s not beautiful” and at one point even told her she wasn’t beautiful?? Just bc she wasn’t his type but he was still attracted to her?? Like buddy you can be attracted to someone who isn’t your type it’s not a crazy concept.

The mystery part was VERY slow paced and the ending felt a bit anticlimactic? But I get that they were trying to make a point about the serial killer not going out in the “blaze of glory” that he wanted. It felt like this book focused a lot on the characters and less on the progression of the plot which had me caring a lot about the characters (mostly Sylvia and Fiona and the dogs, not so much Simon). I wish we got more from the serial killer’s POV.

Overall, I will be reading more Nora Roberts books.
