This is a six star read. Normally authors can’t add to fantastic trilogies years later, but SC can. Everything is tied together so perfectly. It’s like she had everything planned out for every reaping for every victor years ago & just went back to find her outlines. I’m in awe. I cried so hard at the end & tried to explain why I was crying to my husband. He looked at me and said, “you lost me at the first sentence about Covey?”.

Read this. Read this. Read this. I was on my toes the entire time. I loved how Haymitch was connected to Katniss. I also read EVERYTHING Haymitch said in Woody Harrelson’s voice.  Also, every sentence is utilized. There is nothing winding & no filler scenes. Every single page and sentence is necessary.

My only issue, a personal one, is that I’m not musical nor am I into poetry. There is a ton of snippets of poems and songs. Near the end I was kind of frustrated with them. They all have deep significance but I wasn’t about to untangle EVERY SINGLE ONE (there are so, so many) to finish the book.
