Human Resources by Margaret V. Martin

5.0

It is totally unusual and intriguing. It is general fiction, but the twist in the last 100 pages was mind-blowing. Once I start reading this book, it was hard for me to put it down. Margot Martin has experience of 30 years in the broadcast industry, and it shows in her writing. She created a place where the only thing that matters is high ratings, and with time the characters lost integrity and lack work ethics. The rapacious competition, resentment, and self-indulgence among the colleagues is the typical case of this book.

The story is for adult readers only because it includes erotic narratives, racism, violence, and foul language. In the beginning, the story was slow-paced, as the author builds up the characters and the working scenario, but it picks the pace soon. It is a combination of daydreams, secrets, and the insights of the ruthless newscast business with a pinch of romance. If you're looking for some unique read, this one is for you. I highly recommend it.
