I loved the blend of Lovecraftian horror with the horror of Jim Crow America. There’s a good balance of the supernatural and man-made horrors, the characters encounter their fair share of ghosts & eldritch beings but also a hefty amount of racism and hateful violence.
At the end, the characters gain a useful victory from the manipulative Braithwaite, but it’s not a complete victory. Capped with the final stanza of the main story, Atticus & his family & friends tell Braithwaite that the challenges they will face are nothing new.

I will read this one again
