Have you ever read one of those books that breaks your heart and then puts it back together, but the cycle repeats itself? This is absolutely one of those books, in the best way. This picks up where Of Withering Dreams left off, with Seryn setting off with Gavrel on their next quest. Rowyn Adelaide captivated me in book one and this book is no different. Her plot is original and pairs mystery with the high stakes adventure/quests.
Seryn has developed so much more in this book. I really loved seeing how she's evolved from the beginning of the first book to the end of this one. Her curiousity and values were very relatable to me. Gavrel was always my favorite MMC in the first book . I loved how throughout this novel, more of his layers and motives were peeled back to present Seryn (and readers) with the reasons behind his choices. The attraction and history between these two is so palpable and I could feel the magnetic pull they had for one another.
This book is just an installment in the series, but it was beautifully executed and I loved it so much. I will keep my eyes out for the third book.
