Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause
4.0

Almost gave this 3 stars, but in the end decided to give it 4. Here's why:
- Strong female protagonist (yeah, okay, she's kinda annoying in her self-assurance, but it is also her downfall, and what ruins her in the end)
- I liked it. Despite the book's flaws (not focusing enough on the death of her father, the man who Vivian eventually winds up with, Gabriel, or even the difficult choices that Vivian has to make and then face), I enjoyed it. The description and imagery was beautiful
- In some reviews, people complained about how this book is a "hate crime" because Viv winds up with someone in her pack rather than a human, because humans and weres cannot be together. How ridiculous. It's simply the way that she wrote the story, and I found it beautiful that Vivian eventually found what she was looking for in Gabriel. I think that this sort of thing happens to us ALL THE TIME as humans—take a small example of a girl hating her mother as a teenager, then realizing how wonderful her mother is as she grows older.

Anyway, this isn't exactly a perfect review, but I wanted to explain why this book deserves more than 3 stars despite its obvious flaws. If you like paranormal romance, give this one a shot!
