I'm so glad this trilogy continues in a strong way because I would have hated to love the first book and then get disenchanted with it. But it totally wasn't the case.

One of the only problems I found with this book was its pace compared to the first one. I feel like the first 200 pages or so of the book were relatively slow and because of this the pace didn't feel as natural as in The Circle. I think this is because the first book is an introductory book for the characters and so you expect a little bit of slowness but in the second book you don't expect it at all. Even so, once you reach page 250 or so the pace increases and you don't encounter anymore holes in it.

The new POVs introduced in this book made me so happy, especially Linnéa's. It's the one thing I wanted more than anything for this book to have and I'm so happy it happened. Even though the new POV I enjoyed the most was Linnéa's, it was also very enlightening to have Ida's. She's such a complex character and an insight into her mind helped understanding her a little better and it served even to start liking her a bit.

I couldn't be happier about the friendships the girls share in this second book. They grew closer throughout all the story and it was amazing. I was especially surprised by Linnéa's and Minoo´s development. They're characters I would have never really seen working but once they grew into their dynamic I suddenly realized how well they actually work. Minoo's patience and understanding nature helps someone as bullheaded as Linnéa and she feels safe to open up to her.

But my favorite friendship was the one created between the 5 Chosen Ones, for sure. 5 very different girls that shouldn't fit as well as they actually do. It's obvious they start to grow closer because of everything they're experiencing together but it's great to see that this transforms into the girls actually caring for each other genuinely and realizing just how close they have actually become.

The scenes where they were together at school were some of my favorites because they were an united front against the world, a kind of family against evil and I just loved it!

Spoiler AND OMG THE BODY SWAP THING. It was amazing, honestly! It's one of my favorite fic tropes of all time and seeing it introduced with the magic aspect of the trilogy was great. I especially loved the usefulness of it, how it wasn't just a comedic aspect of the plot but theta it actually served a purpose.

And don't even get me started on my two loves Vanessa and Linnéa.
Spoiler This book was so wonderful for my angst-loving heart. I love a good pining romance and the authors do it fantastically with Linnéa in this second book. And not only that, but the few hints of Vanessa also feeling something... UGH THEY KILLED ME.

I swear if they don't end up together I'm gonna riot.

I mean, I feel like after that last scene where Vanessa realized she didn't love Wille anymore and when she though that there was someone she already knew that actually fit everything she wanted, after that I feel like something will actually happen. But I don't want to get my hopes up because I tend to be really unlucky with my OTPs, so...

I can't wait to keep reading the conclusion to the trilogy (that I've already started) and see how everything finishes up and if it fits the level of the rest of the trilogy.

Favorite characters status update: in my heart there is a war going on right now because Linnéa is this close to becoming my favorite even though I still love Vanessa with my whole heart.
