Simply Lies by David Baldacci
3.0
Mickey Gibson is a former detective now working remotely at ProEye, a company that hunts down wealthy tax evaders. She ends up finding a dead body in a house she was told to go inventory, getting a call from a strange woman that calls herself Clarisse, and getting herself in the middle of a treasure-hunt with people who aren’t who they say they are.
This was my first David Baldacci book, and honestly I’m a bit disappointed. It was too drawn out, confusing at times because so many characters were introduced where first and last names were used interchangeably, and the motives behind some of the actions weren’t very credible (in my opinion). Also there were some action scenes that I was just expecting to be more dramatic, but were pretty quick and non-eventful. Still a pretty good story and cool concept, just wasn’t the best book I’ve read.
