i loved the dark spooky atmosphere, well conveyed through the writing. the characters felt shallow, but i was interested enough in the plot and the setting and the mystery that it didn't matter much. however, they gave concrete explanations for things i would have prefered stayed mysterious. the more they explained them, the more it unraveled the story and setting in an unsatisfying way. the story also introduced a plot line in the last couple parts of the book that i felt was unecessary, and made the end pretty disappointing to me. overall, i thought it was still worth the time it took to read. if you are looking for something with solid spooky vibes, and dont mind explanations of the mysterious happenings of a story, this one would probably be good for you
