I actually really liked how this was going... 1984 in Egypt, a fictionalized account of the Arab Spring if the coups and protests didn't go in favour of the oppressed. The characters were all real and very intresting.

Then it turns out there was no ending or resolution. Speculative fiction indeed. I took off a star for that. Never mind if the overarching plot wasn't done, that was a nice neverending story thing, but not the main thread and main characters - just my personal bias.
