A Momentary Marriage by Candace Camp

4.0

This was absolutely delightful. I really enjoyed how James and Laura started out as enemies and gradually grew into something more. It wasn't a fast-paced romance due to the rather inauspicious start to their marriage. James is sure that he'll die soon and Laura agrees to marry him for the convenience of life after his untimely demise. Neither one anticipates that they'll want a different outcome. And, it's that movement from animosity to more tender emotions that is the strength of Momentary Marriage. I was very much put in mind of Mary Balogh's Only Beloved, although there was a quite a bit more wit in Momentary Marriage. James isn't always a likeable fellow, but the heroine often brings out the humanity in him. Fantastic read!
