After liking but not loving Spells for Forgetting, I was a little hesitant on this one. It felt like everyone but me was obsessed with Spells for Forgetting, was this going to be the same? @its.amandas.bookshelf’s glowing review got me excited to try Adrienne Young again, and I’m so glad I did because I fell so in love with this book and it landed a place on my forever favorites shelf!
Above all else, the *vibes* of this one were so spot on for me. Like Spells for Forgetting, it’s very atmospheric. It took me about 50 pages to get used to the style of writing, then I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. I was so engrossed by the central mystery and found the reveal very satisfying, and I absolutely loved the love story in this one. I just love a book about generations of women and while I’m not positive I entirely followed the magical rules, it didn’t even matter. I loved June and this world and this book!
