Slow Days, Fast Company. The World, the Flesh, and L.A. by Eve Babitz
3.0
This was beautifully written, but other than that did nothing for me. I'm still going to read something else by Eve Babitz because I could see myself enjoying something by her, but this just wasn't it. Also...I frequently forgot that this was written in the 70's and sometimes certain things really prominently reminded me...
Minor: Racism
It's obviously not up to me to decide what is or isn't implicit racist, but keep in mind this was written in the 70's, so words like 'orientals' and 'Indians' to refer to Native Americans were used, and while I know usage of these words were normal at the time of this book's publication, they always caught me off guard. I didn't feel the usage was malicious, but again that's not my decision to make.
